The Dream Team really tried to give this one to someone else, but in the end, Willie Croft’s tenaciousness on Friday and Saturday earned him Dream Team Driver of the Week honors.
Roseville’s Croft out dueled brother-in-law Kyle Hirst on Friday night at Civil War 1 at Chico’s Silver Dollar Speedway, then towed to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday and sliced through lappers at a frenetic pace over the first 19 non-stop laps before finally slamming the door shut after a restart and beating the likes of Abreu, Forsberg, Terrell and Robinson. Through it all, Croft stood tall the entire weekend and won both races, the second time this season we’ve seen a weekend sweep. For fighting off the competition not once but twice, Willie Croft is the Dream Team’s 3rd Driver of the Week.
Honorable mentions to Kasey Kahne, who showed the Pennsylvania Posse the way around their own track at Port Royal and Tony Gualda, who ran from the C Main to the A and got into the top ten at one point in the feature at Silver Dollar on Friday.
