PETERSEN MEDIA- Strapping into the family owned No. 9L for one final time in 2017 on Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Cody Lamar would race his way into the Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature event, only to see early contact end his night early.

“It was kind of a bummer way to end our season,” Cody Lamar said. “We timed in well, and didn’t get out of our heat but we raced into the ‘A’ from the semi. We were making some good laps, but we had some help getting knocked off the back stretch and it ended our night early.”

With 41 cars checked into the pit area for the final SCCT event of the 2017 season, Lamar would time the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L machine in 11th quickest overall and fifth fastest in his qualifying group.

Battling for a transfer position in his heat race, Lamar would end up on the outside looking in as his seventh place finish would place him in the 15-lap ‘B’ Main event for one final attempt at qualifying for the feature event.

Leading laps early in the semi, Lamar would settle for a second place finish which was still good enough to move him into the final 35-lap feature event of the 2017 season.

Lining up 13th in the feature event, Lamar would slip back to 15th when the race came to life where he would run until contact with another driver would push him off the racing surface and ultimately bring his night to an early end.

“It is a little frustrating to end our season like that, but you always have good nights and bad nights in this deal,” Lamar added. “I have to thank everyone who helped us out all year long, and made all of this possible to do.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-30, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 4, Top 10’s-7
