Early Contact Ends Shane Hopkins and M&S Motorsports’ Adobe Cup

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting the call to return to the seat of the M&S Motorsports  No. 27 car on Saturday night, Shane Hopkins made a trip to Petaluma Speedway for Adobe Cup VII where a strong night would get cut short as a lap seven incident would end his night.

“We had a good car and had a pretty good night going, but a lap seven incident ended our feature event early,” Shane Hopkins said. “It was a pleasure to work with the M&S Motorsports guys again, and I had another fun night at the track.”

A draw show format with two heat races saw Hopkins line up in the fourth starting position in his first heat as he would race his way to a second place finish. With heat races inverted in the second round, Hopkins would again start in the fourth starting position and just like his first heat, the Cameron Park, CA driver would again finish in second.

Sitting second in points, Hopkins would move into time trials where his two-lap effort would dictate his starting position in the 30-lap feature event. Ending up seventh, Hopkins would roll off from the seventh starting position.

A tacky Petaluma Gumbo surface would greet the drivers and teams for the feature event, and when the action came to life, Hopkins would settle into eighth as passing would be at a premium early in this one.

Running well inside the Top-10 against a very talented field of cars, lap seven would prove to be problematic for Hopkins and M&S Motorsports. With a car getting out of shape in front of Hopkins, he would make contact with another car himself and contact to his front end would force him on the tow truck and his night would come to a halt.

“It was a bummer to have our night end like that, but I have to thank Mike Dodds and his team for another opportunity after a tough Fall Nationals,” Hopkins said. “Very appreciative for the chance to race, and I hope we can do more racing together in the future if our schedules allow it.”

Hopkins and Moxie Motorsports would like to thank Moxie Mechanical, Morrison Concrete, TNT Powdercoat, LRB Ent., ADCO Driveline, C&H Veteran Enterprises, Soares Motorsports, Joe Hunt Magnetos, Capital Ace Hardware, Johnson Motorsports, American River Overhead, Americote Painting, Gary Morgan Graphics, and ART Enterprises for their support in 2018.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-28, Wins-0, Top-5’s-2, Top 10’s-5

ON TAP- Hopkins and Moxie Motorsports return to action on October 13th at Keller Auto Speedway for more Sprint Car Challenge Tour action.
