PETERSEN MEDIA- Wednesday night at the Placerville Speedway, Kerry Madsen had a very strong night going until contact on a lap seven restart knocked him from the top-five and forced him to the back of the pack as he went on to fight back to finish 13th.

“We had a really good car all night on Wednesday, but there was contact on a restart that forced us into the work area and put us to tail end of the field,” Madsen explained.

With 33 cars on hand for the 2nd Annual Brad Sweet’s Short Track Outlaw Showdown, Madsen got the night started off by timing his Keneric Health Care/Keneric Racing No. 29 machine in third fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Madsen would take care of business as he went on to pick up the win and move into the night’s six-lap Dash.

After the inversion pill was pulled, the St. Marys, NSW native would find himself in the second row of the Dash, and a third place finish would line him up in the second row of the 40-lap A Main Event.

When the race came to life on the high-banked ¼ mile speedway, Madsen would find himself in the fifth spot as he battled with David Gravel and Kyle Hirst.

Putting together a strong opening to the race, contact on lap seven would see Madsen spin and come away with damage to his nose wing. Though he kept his machine under power, Madsen was forced to the back of the pack and at that time opted to go to the work area for repairs.

Restarting from the tail end of the field, Madsen would work his way back up inside the Top-15 until he spun his machine out on the 18th lap amidst some very close quarters racing.

The last half of the race saw ‘The Mad Man’ continue to show speed as he did all night as he was able to drive past some very strong cars as he moved all around the slicked off surface.

As the grueling race came to a close, Madsen would end up fighting his way back to finish in the 13th spot.

“Aside from being involved in a couple of incidents, I was really pleased with the night,” Madsen said. “I am really excited about the direction our car is headed, and after having a few nights off, I am looking forward to getting back to racing this weekend.”
