Early Incident Relegates Tanner Carrick to 21st Place Finish With World of Outlaws at Placerville

PETERSEN MEDIA: Racing his way into Saturday night’s feature event the hard way with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series at Placerville Speedway, Tanner Carrick was collected in an incident that took place in front of him and left him with a beaten and battered car that he limped around the speedway for much of the 40-lapper.

“Qualifying with the World of Outlaws is huge, and we put hurt ourselves right off the bat not timing in well,” Tanner Carrick said. “We raced into the feature out of the ‘B’ but then we got caught in someone else’s mess which bent some components on our front end, and I just sort of hung on from there.”

With 38-cars on hand for the series’ long-awaited return to the speedway, a split group qualifying format was used with Carrick timing the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No.83T in 14th in his flight.

Lining up in the fourth row of his heat race, the Lincoln, CA driver finished sixth which forced him into the 12-lap Last Chance Showdown as he sought after one of the four transfers into the feature event.

Battling with the likes of Logan Schuchart and Joel Myers Jr for the final berths into the 40-lap finale, Carrick withstood a late restart to finish fourth and keep his night alive.

Lining up 24th on the field, Carrick slowly picked up a few positions until a car spun in front of him one seventh lap. With nowhere to go, Carrick made contact with the stalled car and bounced over the infield berm and came to a stop.

Restarting the race back in 24th, Carrick had a noticeable issues to the steering of his entry but still continued on as he did what he could on the bullring.

Picking up a few spots, Carrick capped his night off with a 21st place finish.

“It wasn’t the night we had in mind, as we have had a lot of speed at Placerville to end the year, but we just never really dug out of an early hole,” Carrick added.

Tanner Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Hanson Truss, Eddie’s Lincoln Auto Body, Simpson Strong-Tie, A&A Concrete Supply, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support.
