Early Miscue Ends Andy Gregg’s 4th of July Early

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in 4th of July festivities at Placerville Speedway on Sunday night, an early miscue in the feature event would bring Andy Gregg’s night to an early end.
“I just put myself in a bad position, and ended our night early,” Andy Gregg said. “It was my fault, and I hate it for my guys and my sponsors. We had a great run last week and gained some valuable points, but unfortunately we gave them all back on Sunday night.”
Checking in at the annual 4th of July Extravaganza at Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg got his night underway by timing the GUTS Racing/LAL Motorsports/Crane Inspection Agency backed No. 16x entry in 15th fastest in time trials, with 32 cars packed into the pit area.
Just narrowly making the inversion, Gregg would line up on the front row of his heat race, and his third-place finish transferred him directly into the feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the 13th starting position.
When the feature event rolled out, an extremely slick surface with a thick cushion greeted all 20 competitors for the 25-lap feature event. When the race came to life, Gregg would take a liking to the middle of the speedway as he was able to keep his momentum built up without pounding on the cushion.
Continuing to work the middle in the early stages of the race, Gregg would endure slight contact with another car and with no grip to grab on to, it would result in Gregg spinning his machine out with more contact ultimately being endured on the race’s third lap.
With the damage too severe, Gregg’s night would come to a disappointing end.
“I was in a bad spot, and some light contact sent us spinning,” Gregg said. “It was my fault. We will go to work and be ready to go again on the 17th. Again, big thanks to my guys.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, LAL Motorsports, Crane Inspection Agency, Meyers and Son Drywall, Nail it Roofing, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Aaron Dosh Attorney at Law, Ice House Resort, Classic Fence Co., Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, Sierra Ice, Ford’s Only, MF Inc., and Gilly’s Radiator for their support.
ON TAP: Gregg will be back in action on Saturday, July 17th at Placerville Speedway.
