PETERSEN MEDIA- Racing at his home track, Antioch Speedway, on Saturday night, Jarrett Soares would see a positive night go south on the seventh lap as he would loop his car out of turn four and ultimately bring his night to an early end.
“I have to thank Brian Sperry, my dad, Deano, and my uncle Dale for all their hard work on Saturday night,” Jarrett Soares said. “We had a good car, I was just too throttle happy on what was a pretty slick track.”
Timing the American Tool & Mfg/C&H Veteran Enterprises/Walker Performance Filtration machine in 12th fastest in qualifying time trials, the Discovery Bay, CA product would finish sixth in his heat race.
Gridding the field from the 12th starting spot, Soares would get off to a nice start in the opening laps of the feature event. Able to get into the Top-10, Soares would push harder trying to gain more spots until the seventh lap.
Trying to get by a car out of turn four, Soares would lose the handle on his machine and it would result in a spin and contact from another car and his night would come to a premature end.
“I saw myself in the Top-10 and I just pushed and pushed and ultimately went too far,” Soares said. “I just couldn’t feather the throttle the right way and keep my tires under me. Hopefully we can get to Tulare this week and put a complete night together.”
