PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Marysville Raceway on Saturday night to take part in the Spooktacular and shake down his engine after a tough Trophy Cup, Justyn Cox would get collected in an early tangle that would bring his Saturday night to an early end.

“We had good speed, and we accomplished what we set out to do, so that was good,” Justyn Cox said. “Unfortunately early in the race I got stuck with no where to go and it brought our night to an early end.”

22 cars would check into Marysville Raceway on Saturday night for the track’s final event of the year, and Cox would open his night up by timing the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex backed No. 31C in 10th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the Clarksburg, CA driver would take advantage of the prime starting position and fend off Andy Forsberg to score the important win. By way of his win, Cox would move into the redraw where the six pill put him in the third row for the feature event.

On a racy Marysville Raceway surface, Cox would work his way up into the fourth position when he began battling with Michael Kofoid for the third spot. In a few short laps the leaders were in lapped traffic and things would start to get dodgy.

On the sixth lap a slower car would make contact with Kofoid who would get up into Cox and would cause the 31c to spin and nearly get up and over. Under caution, Cox would opt to pull in the pit area where he would go back to his trailer and bring his night to an end.

“It was good to be up and battling in the lead pack, but our great luck continued,” Cox said. “A positive was we didn’t have any mechanical issues so we should be all good to go for Stockton in a couple weeks.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, EyeLusions, All American Powder Coating, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2017!

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-48, Wins-6, Top 5’s-19, Top 10’s-28

ON TAP: Cox will be off this weekend before returning to action on November 11th in Stockton, CA.
