PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the famed Kids Bike Night event at Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg would unfortunately catch the cushion wrong on the race’s eighth lap and bring his night to an early end as his machine got upside down.
“It was a really fun night all around with the kids bike races, and the bike give aways,” Andy Gregg said. “Unfortunately, I made a mistake early in the feature and it turned a fun night a little sour as I got upside down.”
With 20 cars checked in on an unseasonably cool night at the quarter mile nestled on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, Gregg would start the night out timing his GUTS/LAL Motorsports/Crane Inspection Agency backed No. 16x entry in 12th fastest in time trials after going out very early in the session.
As the track continue to get better as the night moved along, speeds would continue to increase during time trials, and carry over into heat races. Turning in lightning-fast laps in heat race action, Gregg’s second place run would put him in the sixth row of the 25-lap feature event.
Rolling off the starting grid from 12th, Gregg would get a feel for the surface as it had gone slick as the feature came to life. Able to work his way forward in a race that was slowed by stoppages, Gregg would crack the Top-10 by the fifth lap.
Getting shuffled back on a couple of restarts, Gregg would look to surge his way back into the Top-10, however the Diamond Springs, CA racer would catch the curb wrong in turns three and four and it would result in his machine getting upside-down.
Able to climb from the wreckage, Gregg’s night would come to an end.
“I was frustrated for everyone that helps this team out,” Andy Gregg said. “We already started to rebuilding process after the races on Saturday night, so hopefully we can put another strong car together and get back to the track on Sunday.”
