Early Wreck Ends Justyn Cox’s Night; Summer Nationals On Tap

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to California to compete at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night following a week of racing in Oregon, Justyn Cox would be involved in an early tangle that would bring his night to an early end as he now looks forward to Skagit Speedway’s Summer Nationals.

“It wasn’t the night we were hoping for,” Cox said. “We ended up hurting the frame after getting pushed into the infield wall, and it ended our night really before it got started.”

Going out first in qualifying time trials, the track would continue to get better and better with each car, and Cox would end up 11thquickest on the speed chart aboard the Michael David Winery/Five Window Beer Company/MDW Sports backed No. 31c machine.

Finishing fourth in heat race competition, Cox would transfer into the feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the 11thposition in the 25 lap feature event.

Cox’s race would be short lived as contact on the race’s second lap would send him spinning into infield where hard contact would with the infield retaining wall would leave him with a battered machine and bring his night to an early end.

“Unfortunately it hurt our frame, but fortunately I have an opportunity to get back in Doug Rutz’s car this weekend in Washington,” Cox said. “It gives us some time to get our car put back together, and gives me an opportunity to go run a pretty cool race at Skagit Speedway.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Michael David Winery, Five Window Beer Company, MDW Sports, Cranked Naturals, PM Truck Repair, Justice Brothers, K&N, LRB, Konnected, A.R.T., Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, Arai, Racing Optics, All American Powder Coating, VSR, Coos Bay Speedway, Swimming Pool Perfections, Tim’s Hot Rod Shop, Shell Shock, Moyle Race Engines, and Manzer Motorsports for their support in 2019!
