Early Wreck Ends Shawn Wright’s Night
PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading to the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night to take on the Civil War Series Presented by Flowmaster, Shawn Wright had a fast racecar all night long, but a lap one wreck brought his night to an early end.
“We had great car speed all night long, but unfortunately we got caught up in a big wreck on the first lap, and it brought our night to an end,” Wright said.
30 cars checked into the pit area in Petaluma, CA on Saturday for the round two of the 2015 Civil War Series, and Wright got his night off to a great start as he timed the Wright Process Systems/A.R.T./Willwood backed No. 99 machine in eighth fastest.
Lining up in the second row of the fourth heat, the Tulare, CA resident was able to work his way forward, and pick up a second place finish, and subsequently earn a spot in the night’s dash.
Pulling the seven pill in the dash redraw, Wright would gain a row for the feature event, as he picked up a sixth place finish, putting him in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.
On the hooked up and fast Petaluma surface, Wright would battle for position on the opening lap of the race before contact saw his machine get upside down in a big way, and his night would come to an end with just one lap complete.
“With how we ran the last couple of weeks, it was nice to have some speed, just a little disappointing with how the night ended,” he added.
