PETERSEN MEDIA- The busy month of June continued on for Cory Eliason and Antaya Motorsports on Saturday night in Petaluma, CA where Eliason would make some nice moves in the feature event and pocket a fourth place finish.

“It turned out to be a pretty good night overall for the race team,” Eliason said. “We timed in second quickest in time trials but we didn’t make the transfer into the Dash and it put his about mid pack in the feature. My guys gave me a good car and we were able to move forward and come away with a good finish.”

22 cars checked into Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night, and Eliason would get the night started off in the right direction as he timed the Good Guys Rod and Custom Association/Fuel Curve/Fire Protection Management, Inc. backed No. 20 entry in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, an unusually hot day in Petaluma, CA made for a slicked off racing surface and drivers struggled for much to grab a hold of. Unable to crack the top-three, Eliason would finish in the fourth spot as he would fail to make the Dash.

With his team working to get their car better for the track surface, Eliason would grid the field from the sixth row for the 30-lap feature event.

Track crews went to work on the Petaluma Speedway prior to the feature event and it made for a racy surface for much of the feature event. Getting up into the Top-10 in the opening six laps with a couple of cautions slowing things, Eliason would make a big time move getting into turn three on a lap six restart that saw him get by DJ Netto and Billy Aton to take the seventh spot.

Following a yellow on the ninth lap, the race would click of 21 laps uninterrupted and Eliason would make some swift moves to get by Bobby McMahan and Andy Forsberg.

Battling with series point leader, Gio Scelzi, in the closing laps, Eliason would get by and claim the fourth spot when the race came to an end.

“We were a crew guy down tonight, so I have to thank everyone that stepped up and picked up the slack,” Eliason added. “We really had a good car in the feature event and to come from 11th to fourth is a good night.”

Antaya Motorsports would like to thank Good Guys Rod and Custom Association, Fuel Curve, Fire Protection Management, Inc., TW Performance, Kaeding Performance, Cardinal Paint and Powder, Tool World, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, and Shiro’s Collision Center for their support in 2017.
