PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing during both nights of the Cotton Classic, Cory Eliason would finish seventh during Friday night’s 360ci race aboard the Van Dyke Motorsports NO. 5h, before a late race move put him in the third spot of Saturday’s 410ci race aboard his own entry.

“It was a good weekend overall for both teams,” Cory Eliason said. “Both cars were capable of ending up on the podium but a late move during Friday’s feature saw us fall back to seventh.”

Timing the Harley Van Dyke owned entry in 10th fastest during qualifying time trials, Eliason would then pick up an important heat race win that put him in the night’s Dash.

Finishing fourth in the Dash, the Kingsburg, CA pilot would take the green flag for the 30-lap feature from the second row. A tough start to the night would see Eliason fall outside of the Top-Five, but he would stay the course and work his way back forward.

Working back up to the fourth spot, Eliason would make a late bid to overtake the third spot but contact would get his machine off the racing surface and he would lose several positions. Once back on the racing surface, Eliason would find himself in the seventh spot and would go on to finish there.

Saturday night saw him climb aboard the ERC No. 00jr entry to take on the King of the West series. Coming into the night as the defending race winner, Eliason would time in sixth fastest.

Running third in his heat race to Brent and Tim Kaeding, Eliason would transfer to the feature event but would not have a spot in the six-lap Dash.

Lining up in the ninth spot, Eliason showed his strength in the early goings of the feature event, as he wasted no time working his way forward. Finding himself up into the fifth spot at the race’s halfway point, Eliason seemed to get better as the laps clicked off.

Taking over the fourth spot late in the race, Eliason would then go to work on third running Tim Kaeding. A late restart would set up an epic battle for the final podium position and using a last lap pass, Eliason would secure the third spot at the finish line.

“I have to thank everyone who helps us on both cars,” Eliason said. “Each night my confidence level is pretty high, and that is a testament to the guys who work on these things. Hopefully we can keep it going and finish out the year strong.”

The Van Dyke Motorsports team would like to thank Lucas Oil, Hansen Machine, NAAKE Suspension, Maxim Chassis, and Moyle Racing Engines for their support during the year.
