PETERSEN MEDIA- After spending much of the season on the road with Roth Motorsports, Cory Eliason has defended his home turf well with the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’ in the Golden State. During the final night of action in California, Cory Eliason and Roth Motorsports sent the series on their way by claiming the win and giving the team their second World of Outlaws win of the season.
“I really have to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for sticking with me, and letting me represent them in our home state against the Outlaws,” Cory Eliason said. “Brent Ventura has given me a bad fast race car the last couple of weeks and it means a lot to get another WoO win, and get Brent his first as a crew chief.”
Saturday night at the famed Calistoga Speedway, Eliason and Roth Motorsports came out swinging as the Kingsburg, CA pilot timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments machine in eighth quickest which placed him in the second row of his heat race.
Making a couple of nice moves during heat race competition, Eliason would move into second which was critical as his finish put him inside the Dash where the one pill put him on the pole of the six-lap showdown.
Battling Gio Scelzi in the opening stages, Eliason would muscle away to pick up the win where he would put the famed Roth Motorsports No. 83 entry on the front row of the 25-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, Scelzi would give Eliason fits just as he did in the Dash, but Eliason would get the best of his friend, and start to distance himself from the field as the track would begin to take rubber.
With Donny Schatz reeling in Eliason, Eliason would continue to keep him at bay until a yellow flag coming to the white negated Schatz’s bid for the lead.
Back underway, Eliason would handle business as he led the final two laps to collect his second series win and join the list of legendary winners at the historic facility.
Friday night also saw Eliason in action at Calistoga and after timing in sixth quickest, and finishing third in his heat race, Eliason would spin while running inside the Top-10 and end up finishing 16th.
A busy week of racing saw the team in action on Wednesday night at Placerville, CA where the team would use the momentum from a strong Gold Cup to score another Top-Five finish as Eliason and crew took the checkered flag in the fifth position.
“It was really a great week for us,” Eliason said. “We have been fast just about everywhere and it has been nice to get home and have some home cooking and run well in front of so many family friends. I know it means a lot to run well for the Roth family, and it means even more to them to run well in CA so hopefully we can keep this going.”
The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, 3H Cattle, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2018.
ON TAP: Eliason and Roth Motorsports return to action on October 13th in Hanford, CA for the Cotton Classic.
