PETERSEN MEDIA- In hunt for his third consecutive win, and second SCCT win of the year on Saturday night, Andy Forsberg got off to a strong start only to see engine woes sideline him during the feature event.
“We got our night off to a good start, got through the heat, and were rolling pretty decent in the feature until we had some engine issues,” Andy Forsberg said. “It has just been that kind of year. I keep saying it, but its either feast or famine for us.”
Earning quick time honors in his qualifying group aboard the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine, Forsberg would advance from fourth to third in his heat race.
Moving into the Dash, contact would result in an early spin for the Auburn, CA driver, but he would recover to finish sixth and find himself in the third row for the 35-lap feature event.
When the race came to life, Forsberg would slip back early as he worked around the tight bullring nestled in Merced, CA. Able to get going, Forsberg would recover those lost positions as he looked to make a bid for a spot inside the Top-Five.
As the race approached the halfway point, trouble would strike Forsberg and F&F Racing as he came to a stop in turn two on the race’s 17thlap. Making the decision that the damage was too much to overcome, Forsberg’s night would come to a close as he would be credited with an 18thplace finish.
“I hate it for my guys, but they still continue to work so hard despite the luck that we have,” Forsberg said. “They will go to work this week, and hopefully we are back in the hunt on Saturday night in Placerville, CA.”
