(PETERSEN MEDIA)- Getting back to racing action on Saturday night in Hanford, CA Eric Correia and Jacob Pacheco would strap into GWR entries for the night.
Making his first ever start at Keller Auto Speedway, Jacob Pacheco would time the Speedway Motors/CS9/System1 backed No. 12 machine in 16th quickest in group qualifications, which would place him in the third row of his heat race.
On an extremely slick racing surface, Pacheco would run cautious in the heat as he adapted to the surface which would result in him finishing in the sixth position.
Going back to the pit area to make some changes for the feature event, the GWR crew would get to work and tighten Pacheco’s car up for the deteriorating racing surface. Lining up in the 16th starting position, Pacheco would get off to a nice start as he was able to work his way toward the Top-10.
At the race’s halfway point, Pacheco would find himself pushing hard as he continued to make up ground but it would result in him losing the handle and spinning to a stop. Able to restart, Pacheco would again find himself back on the attack but on the 19th lap he would lose the handle again and his night would come to a close.
“I am very happy to be learning a lot and working with this team to get things figured out,” Jacob Pacheco said. “I want to thank the GWR Team, friends, and family for their continued support. I also want to wish a couple friends- Jim Christian and Marcus Thomas a speedy recovery and let them know that we are thinking of them.”
Also in action with GWR on Saturday night was Eric Correia who was making his first start of the 2018 season.
Timing in on a very slick surface, Correia said he felt a little free as he timed the F&J Schott Trucking/Hoosier/Simpson backed No. 95 in 18th quickest in time trials.
Racing his way to a fifth place finish in his heat race, Correia would line the GWR entry up in the ninth row for the 25-lap feature event.
On the slick surface, Correia admitted to being conservative as it was just his first race of the season and being in a new car he still had some rust to shake off. Able to avoid the mayhem that took place in front of him, Correia would finish 13th in the feature event.
“I felt like we had a really fast car, but with it being slick and it being my first night in a car, I took it easy but I had a lot of fun,” Correia said. “Tim Williams and GWR has some excellent equipment and they were a pleasure to work with; I look forward to the next one.”
