Eventful Trophy Cup For Forsberg and F&F Racing

PETERSEN MEDIA- Fires, engine changes, and more brake issues caused Andy Forsberg to have quite an eventful Trophy Cup, but it was all over, the Auburn, CA driver ended his weekend in the B Main.
“Pretty much anything odd that has happened in 2014 nearly happened to us again in the duration of a weekend,” Forsberg said.
Kicking things off on Thursday night, Forsberg timed the Lucas Oil/Pit Stop USA/HRP backed No. x1 machine in seventh fastest in the second group of qualifiers, putting him in the second row of his heat race.
With only the top two finishers in each heat making the feature event, Forsberg would finish in the fourth spot, and go to the B Main event.
Starting in the fourth row of the B, Forsberg quickly jumped into the fifth spot, as he looked for the fourth and final transfer spot. With the yellow bunching the field back up with just a few laps to go, Forsberg looked to make a move on the restart, but instead, he got shuffled back to the seventh spot, where he would finish, ending his Thursday night.
Back in action on Friday night, things got off to a hot start for the Auburn, CA driver as he was the fastest car in his hot lap group, but as he exited the speedway, a fire broke out in the cockpit, but thankfully he was able to escape with only minor burns to his feet.
Getting things put back together, Forsberg continued to show speed, as he timed in third fastest in time trials, before advancing from sixth to second in his heat race.
Sitting 2nd overall in points heading into the feature event, Forsberg lined up in the 11th spot, alongside top point driver, David Gravel.
Hanging around the Top-10 much of the race, Forsberg broke in inboard brake rotor off of his rear-end, and his night came to an early end, with him sitting 24th in points heading into Saturday’s finale.
Saturday night saw more excitement for Forsberg and company as they had engine issues arise on their last lap in hot laps. With the team being in the first heat, they were a scratch from the event as they changed power plants.
Still keeping a decent point total, Forsberg was still locked into the B Main where he lined up in the eighth spot.
While trying to make something happen, Forsberg would lose the handle on his machine, and go to the rear after spinning out.
From the back, Mr. Excitement tried making something happen on the top, and after banging the wall a few times, he elected to call it a night as his Trophy Cup came to a close.
“It was just another 2014 weekend for us,” he said. “We had no issues on Thursday night, and we were really fast on Friday, but we started having some bad luck. I have to thank all of the F&F guys for working so hard. Every time we came of the track they were hard at it. Hopefully we can get to Stockton in a couple of weeks and end our year with a great night.”
F&F Racing would like to thank Lucas Oil, Pit Stop USA, HRP, CRV, Inventory Sales, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Wilwood, Kaizer Wheels, K&N, Roseville Precision, Autism Speaks, FK Rod Ends, and PT Shocks for their support in 2014.
ON TAP: Forsberg and the F&F Racing team will conclude their 2014 season at the Stockton Dirt Track on November 1st with the Civil War Series.
