PETERSEN MEDIA- Though their win streak was snapped on Saturday night, things still went really well for Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing as they finished second at Placerville Speedway and took another step closer to capturing the track championship.

“We got lucky and avoided a big wreck on the start of the race and it moved us to fifth for the second start,” Andy Forsberg said. “After that the race went non stop, and we had a great car on a great surface. We got close to Sanders at the end but settled for second.”

Timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in sixth quickest in time trials after being the first car out and he would need to earn a heat race win to make the redraw.

Unable to grab the win, Forsberg would finish fourth in his heat race and find himself in the fifth row to start the 25-lap feature event, where he was in search of his third consecutive win at the speedway.

When the green flag was displayed, a huge pile up would ensue out of turn four and the Auburn, CA driver was just able to sneak through the infield and miss out on the action.

After everything was sorted out, Forsberg would find himself in the third row for the second attempt at a start. When the race came back to life, it would eventually go green-to-checkered with the leaders spending a lot of time racing through traffic.

Able to work into second just past the race’s halfway point, Forsber would set his sights on Justin Sanders as he looked to keep his win streak going. Closing in on Sanders with five to go, Forsberg would be unable to get around him.

Continuing to stalk the leader, Forsberg would close in as Sanders would bobble on the white flag lap and would make it close coming to the checkered but did not have the momentum to get by as he would take home a second place finish.

“It was another really good night for our team,” Forsberg said. “We did have a little luck on our side when the race got started, but we were really good we just didn’t quite have enough for the 4SA. Thanks to my guys for all their hard work, and to all of our partners for continuing to support us.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.

ON TAP: Forsberg and F&F Racing will look to get back in victory lane this Saturday night at Placerville Speedway during the Mark Forni Classic.
