Fall Nationals Frustration For Andy Gregg

DSC_0065

PETERSEN MEDIA: One week after seeing some engine changes pay off during the Nor Cal Posse Shootout, Andy Gregg left the Fall Nationals scratching his head after a frustrating weekend.

“I went into the weekend looking forward to racing after what we figured out last week,” Andy Gregg said. “I’m still not sure what plagued us in Chico. We changed everything under the sun and still seemed to have issues.”

Friday night kicked off the 25th Annual Fall Nationals in Chico, CA and with 57 cars jammed into the pit area, Gregg timed the GUTS/Angius and Terry LLP/Capitol Ace Hardware backed No. 16 machine in ninth quickest in his time trial group, missing the inversion ever so slightly.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Diamond Springs, CA resident would end up pulling off after just two laps with something amiss and would regroup for the ‘B’ Main.

Gridding the field from the front row of the semi, Gregg’s machine still was not at 100%, but he would do what it took to transfer into the feature as he finished third and kept his night alive.

Starting 23rd in the feature event, Gregg would grab a couple of positions on an early restart as he shot up to 18th in the running order. Unable to really get going as he continued to try and assess what was going on with his machine, Greg would stay in the back of the pack until pulling off the racing surface on the 25th lap.

Working hard Friday night and Saturday morning, Gregg returned to action for the Saturday finale where he would time in 13th quickest on this night. Credited with an 11th place finish in his heat race, Gregg would make his way to the semi where his weekend with come to a close with a ninth place finish.

“One of my crew guys said it best and that is ‘our way is the hard way’, and that pretty much sums up our weekend and our season,” Gregg added. “I really have to thank my guys and everyone that pitched in to try and help us diagnose our problem. We will do some homework and hopefully have this figured out before Trophy Cup.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Angius and Terry LLP, Capitol ACE Hardware, Ice House Resort, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Broadband Agreements, Russo Insurance, Kelly Moore Paints, Cal Pro Paint and Construction, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N,  King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, and MF Inc. for their support in 2017.

ON TAP: Gregg will take the next two weeks off before returning to action for the 2017 Trophy Cup that takes place in Tulare, CA October 19th-21st.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-22, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-7
