Feature Event Issue Brings Ryan Robinson’s SCCT Opener To Close

PETERSEN MEDIA: The opening round of the Sprint Car Challenge Tour opener got off to a good star for Ryan Robinson and Weiher Racing, however a couple of incidents in the feature event would bring his night to an early end.

“We had a pretty good start to our night and set ourselves up well for the feature, but we were involved in a pair of incidents in the ‘A’ that ultimately ended our night early.”

Timing the Mako Farms/LP Holdings/RPI backed No. 14w in fourth fastest in his qualifying group, the Roseville, CA driver was able to get a great start in his heat race that propelled him up to second.

Needing to pick up the win for a berth in the Dash, Robinson could not chase down Ryan Bernal, but the second-place finish was good enough to place him 10th on the starting grid for the 35-lap feature event.

With the track widening out over the course of the night, it was starting to blow off the feature event and offered up two distinct lines to the field.

When the race came to life, Robinson settled into the 10th spot where he ran for the first part of the race until contact caused him to endure a flat right rear tire.

Able to make repairs, Robinson would tag the tail end of the field as he looked to work his way forward against the star-studded field.

Robinson would work his way back up to the 13th spot where he ran when a caution flew with just seven laps to go in the race. When the race went back green, a stack up in turns one and two resulted in Robinson spun around, bringing out his second and final caution of the night as he was credited with a 17th place finish.

“It was a bummer to have our night end like it did, but that’s part of it,” Robinson said. “Thanks to Todd and the guys for their hard work and putting a really good car out on the track.”

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms, Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision, Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their support in 2021!

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-3

ON TAP: Robinson and Weiher Racing are TBD on their next event.
