PETERSEN MEDIA- Making their way to North Dakota, Joey Saldana and Roth Motorsports would pick up two Top-10 finishes including a fifth place finish at the River Cities Speedway on Friday night.

“We had some really good speed at times over the weekend, but things just didn’t seem to go our way,” Joey Saldana said. “We have quite a few short tracks to run in the next couple of weeks, so hopefully we can keep working and get this Roth Motorsports car back into victory lane.”

Timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments No. 83 machine in fastest in his qualifying flight on Friday night at the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND, Saldana would go on to pick up a heat race win and earn a spot in the nightly Dash.

Lining up alongside Donny Schatz in the Dash, Saldana would settle for a second place finish, which would place him on the front row for the 40-lap feature event on the high-banked action packed River Cities Speedway.

When the feature event came to life, Saldana would slip back as packs of cars raced wheel-to-wheel all over the track. Which two and three wide racing the norm, Saldana would find himself as far back as the seventh spot on one lap, and back up fighting for a spot on the podium the next.

With traffic adding another element into the thrilling feature event, Saldana would ultimately take the checkered flag with a fifth place finish.

Traveling to Minot, ND for Sunday night’s tilt at the NoDak Speedway, Saldana would time his Roth Motorsports machine in seventh fastest on the 3/8 mile, high banked speedway.

A third place finish in his heat race would leave the Brownsburg, IN driver out of the Dash, but would transfer him into the 35-lap feature event where he lined up in the fourth row.

Spending his night racing inside the Top-10, Saldana would find himself fighting with good friend, Paul McMahan for position on this night. With the duo seemingly exchanging position lap after lap while navigating through traffic, Saldana would close his weekend out with a seventh place finish.

“Friday night was one of those nights where the racing is so close you bounce from position to position lap after lap, and we were able to come out of there with a Top-Five,” Saldana said. “Sunday night we were just kind of stuck back where we started. We can always be better, and hopefully out west we can put some great runs together for Dennis and Teresa Roth.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, Roth Investments, Southern Pacific Farms, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2016.
