Forsberg 13th at SCCT Opener After Late Race Tangle

PETERSEN MEDIA- Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing had a solid night going with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway. Unfortunately, with just seven laps to in the feature event, Forsberg would endure some contact after jumping the cushion, and would end up finishing 13th after going to the back of the pack.

“The night got off to an okay start for us,” Andy Forsberg said. “We timed in third fastest in our qualifying group, and we won our heat race, but I still felt like we were chasing speed. In the feature we were up to fourth, but I smoked it into three and four and got over the cushion and endured some contact as I tried to get straightened back out.”

With 37 cars on hand for the opening round of the 2021 Sprint Car Challenge Tour campaign, Forsberg would time the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine in second fastest in his qualifying group.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Forsberg was able to get the jump on the lightning-fast surface and race to the win, punching his ticket into the Dash by doing so.

Finishing fourth in the Dash, the Auburn, CA driver would line up in the second row for the 35-lap SCCT feature event. Hanging inside the Top-Five in the early stages of the race, Forsberg would actually slip back to seventh just before the races’ halfway point as the track changed a lot during the duration of the 35-lapper.

In the midst of pure chaos at times, Forsberg would capitalize on restarts as he was able to work his way back into the Top-5, and up to fourth by the time a caution flew on the 28th lap.

The ensuing restart would see Forsberg take a run at the leaders, and in doing so he went use the high side in turns three and four. Getting his right-rear- up over the cushion, Forsberg would endure contact as he got his machine straightened out and it would result in damage to the rear end, including a flat left rear.

Able to change the tire, Forsberg would restart in the 14th starting position, and would pick up a spot as he limped home to a 13th place finish.

“We have some kinks to work out, but it is still very early in the season,” Forsberg said. “These guys have already been working very hard, and hopefully this weekend we will be a little closer to where we want to be.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, PitStopUSA, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2021.

ON TAP: F&F Racing is slated to return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the track’s weekly opener.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-5, Wins-1, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-4.
