PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to Placerville Speedway for the first time since early May, And Forsberg and F&F Racing were oh-so-close to capturing their third consecutive feature event win on the ¼ mile bullring, but instead settled for a second place finish.

“It was a good night for our F&F Racing team,” Andy Forsberg said. “The track was really slick early in the night, and we were good enough to make the redraw, and in the feature, after a little re work, things were going our way but Shane Golobic was just better when it slicked back off and we ran second.”

With 32 cars packing the pit area on Saturday night for the fifth points paying event of the year, Forsberg would time the Econo-Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in fifth fastest in time trials.

Finishing fourth in his heat race, one of the top-four qualifiers would fail to transfer form their heat, and Forsberg would luck into a redraw position where the foul placed him in the second row for the 25-lap feature event.

Getting into third as he chased after CJ Humphries and Michael Faccinto in the early goings, Forsberg would get into the race’s top spot on the sixth lapped as he worked the famed Placerville Speedway cushion.

A caution on the ninth lap as the leaders were getting into traffic would give Forsberg a clear track as he continued to set the pace as he searched for his third consecutive win at the track he has called home over the years.

As Shane Golobic closed in on him as the race clicked past the halfway point, a lap 15 move would see Forsberg slip back to second as the leaders again approached traffic.

With Golobic getting away, a couple of late cautions would put Forsberg on the leader’s rear bumper but he simply had nothing for Golobic as he closed the night out with a second place finish.

“We are still working to get better on the slick stuff, but we are heading the right direction for sure,” Forsberg said. “The re worked definitely helped in my opinion, but once it slowed back down I was hanging on, but like I said, still great to get back on the podium.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2019.
