PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg would go toe-to-toe with Justin Sanders for the race win as the track points leader would ultimately bring the F&F Racing entry home with a second place finish.

“Hats off to Scott Russell and his staff,” Andy Forsberg said. “The track took a little bit of a beating through the night but they rolled their sleeves up and went to work before the feature and really gave us a nice surface to put on what I thought was a heck of a show.”

Forsberg kicked Saturday night off by timing the Econo Lube-N-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, the five-time Placerville Speedway track champion would lead the way  as he raced to the win which made the F&F Racing machine eligible for the redraw. After a fantastic run, pill draw rep, Jimmy Wall’s string of top picks came to a halt as the eight pill put Forsberg in the fourth row to kick off the 25-lap finale.

With heat and car counts taking it’s toll on the famous red clay, track prep prior to the main event would be a great touch as a fantastic surface was presented to the drivers for the feature event.

Two-distinct grooves made for an exciting race as Forsber was able to make some early moves and put himself in contention for the team’s fourth win of the season, and second at the track.

Getting into second, Forsberg would become involved in an entertaining battle with Rookie of the Year contender, Shane Hopkins. Going back and forth with Hopkins at times, Forsberg would soon find himself in second and hot on Sanders’ tail. A five lap shuffle saw the two champion drivers thrill the crowd as the battled tooth and nail for the top spot before a late caution set up an exciting finish.

With Sanders up top, Forsberg would go low and work the bottom as he tired to make some late race heroics happen. Coming close out of turn four, Forsberg just wouldn’t have enough and capped his night with a second place finish.

“My guys gave me a really good car, and things got interesting in traffic,” Forsberg said.  “We gave it a shot there at the end we just came up short. Congrats to Sanders and his team on the win, and thanks to my guys for a gutsy effort.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
