Forsberg and F&F Racing Third at Silver Cup Opener

PETERSEN MEDIA- The 32nd Annual Silver Cup in Chico, CA marked the opening weekend of racing action for Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing. Heading to Silver Dollar Speedway, Forsberg would finish third during Friday night’s opener before a sixth-place result in the Silver Cup finale on Saturday.

“You kind of know what you are going to get during an early March race in Chico, CA,” Forsberg said. “Luckily we were able to put ourselves in a good spot all night, and Jimmy Wall came through with a great pill draw for the feature.”

On a very sticky and fast Silver Dollar Speedway racing surface, Forsberg timed the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials.

Running second in his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver would earn a spot in the redraw where the four-pill placed him in the second row to start the 25-lap Friday night feature event.

With the surface staying extremely fast on this night, Forsberg would hold down the fourth spot as he chased after the likes of Joel Myers, Jr, Max Mittry, and Justin Sanders.

Able to work his way into third, Forsberg would spend the last few laps working on Mittry for the second position. Getting a couple of good runs, Forsberg just couldn’t get by the second-place driver, and he finished the night off with a third-place result.

Back in action on Saturday night, Forsberg’s night would get off to as nice of a start as it did on Friday as he timed the Geico/Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Lucas Oil backed mount in 13th fastest in time trials.

Starting and finishing fourth in his heat race, the Auburn, CA driver would line up in the 15th starting position for the Silver Cup feature event. Amidst a lightning fast opening green flag run, Forsberg would work his way forward and find himself in the sixth position when the caution flew on the 19th lap.

The final 11 laps saw Forsberg in a heated battle with the likes of Tanner Carrick and Joel Myers, Jr. for position in the Top-Five. A late move my Carrick would push Forsberg out of the Top-Five as he ended the weekend with a sixth-place finish.

“Saturday was kind of an okay night for us,” Forsberg noted. “We definitely are not on the Justin Sanders level yet, he was really good all weekend. We got it together in the feature, and late in the race I could have forced some issues and got back on the podium, or I could play it safe and end up sixth. I played it safe and we ended up sixth. Thanks to the F&F guys for their hard work.”

F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, PitStopUSA, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2021.
