PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting upside down on the opening lap of the Sprint Car Challenge Tour feature event at Placerville Speedway one week ago, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing came back strong on the 4th of July and picked up a second place finish.
“We have torn some stuff up the last few weeks and my guys did a great job of getting another car together,” Forsberg said. “We are down to a car that I am not too fond of, but we had a decent night on Thursday and we will build on it.”
With 26 cars checked in for the Holiday race, Forsberg would time the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 entry in second fastest in qualifications.
Lining up in the second row for his heat race, Forsberg would take care of business as his third place finish would be enough to move into the nightly redraw.
Not having the best luck in the draw on this night, Forsberg would find himself with the eighth pill, meaning he would take the green flag for the 25-lap affair from the fourth row.
Using a strong start to the feature event, Forsberg would make a couple of nice moves as he jumped up into the third position as chased after the lead duo of Shane Golobic and Tony Gualda.
Taking over the second position just after the halfway point, Forsberg would turn his attention to Shane Golobic, but the race leader was just too good on this night.
With Golobic committed to the bottom, Forsberg would just to make the top work but couldn’t get close enough to try anything. When Ron Stahl waived the checkered flag, Forsberg capped another strong night at the speedway with a second place finish.
“Congrats to the 17 team, they were just a step ahead of us all night,’ Forsberg said. “Again, want to thank everyone that works on this car and supports us. It has been tough at times but we don’t seem to miss a beat.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2019.
