Forsberg Finds Victory Lane at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Hard work paid off for Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing on Saturday night as the team was able to get over the hump and return to victory lane for the first time this season at Placerville Speedway and for the first time since sweeping the Silver Cup back in March.
“After changing so much before last week’s race, I really felt like we were on to something,” Andy Forsberg said. “The track on Saturday night was pretty racy and we were able to get the job done and get back to victory lane in Placerville, CA.”
Forsberg kicked the night off by timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA No. x1 entry in fifth quickest in qualifying time trials.
Gridding the field from the second row of his heat race, ‘Mr. Excitement’ would pocket a third place finish which would ultimately earn him a spot in the redraw where the two pill put him on the front row of the feature event alongside Kalib Henry.
With the first attempt at a start being negated due to a caution, the second start would count as Forsberg jumped out to the early lead over Justin Sanders and Justyn Cox.
The green flag run would soon be halted on the third lap as the caution flag would put the field back in double-file formation for the impending restart. Continuing to lead the way, cautions would plague the flow of the race and create numerous restarts.
Able to weather the storm, Forsberg would continue to lead the way though he would eventually feel pressure from Tony Gualda as traffic came into play just past the race’s halfway point.
Gualda would put Forsberg back to second on the 13th lap, and another caution would bunch the field back up as Forsberg remained on the front row for the restart but now found himself back in the second spot.
When the action came back to life, Forsberg would excite the crowd as he was able to surge back into the lead where he would pull away from the field until a late stoppage turned into a red flag for fuel.
As cars pushed back off, and the race came back to life, the Auburn, CA driver would flex his muscle in the closing laps as he pulled off and drove away to pick up his third win of the season with F&F Racing, and he would actually cap off the weekend sweep as he was victorious in his personal car on Friday night in Chico, CA.
The win on Saturday night marked Forsberg’s 56th career triumph at Placerville Speedway.
“My guys have really been working hard all season, and after a couple of frustrating weeks trying to figure some things out it is great to park on the front stretch and celebrate a win,” Forsberg said. “I think we definitely hit on something and I look forward to seeing what we can do during the rest of the Summer.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
ON TAP: Forsberg and F&F Racing will meet up with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday night as the series heads to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA.
