PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night after a hiatus due to the El Dorado County Fair, Andy Forsberg and his F&F Racing team put together another strong night as the Auburn, CA driver picked up a fourth place finish on less than ideal track conditions.
“I think the fair took its toll on the track, as it took rubber early,” Forsberg said. “The guys worked hard all night, and we were good, but it was just hard to pass.”
With 22 cars on hand, Forsberg was fast out of the trailer, as he timed the Lucas Oil/Pit Stop USA/Roseville Precision entry in fourth fastest.
Heat races went quick, and starting in the second row of his, Forsberg held his spot as he finished in the third spot, qualifying himself for the Top-Eight redraw.
Pulling the six-pill, Forsberg lined his CRV/Inventory Sales/A.R.T. No. X1 machine up in the third row for the 25-lap feature event on the very abrasive and slicked off racing surface.
Using a great start to get up into the fourth spot, Forsberg was in hot pursuit of Justin Sanders and Mike Benson, but soon after getting into the fourth spot, the track began to lay rubber down.
Once the rubber starting being laid down, passing became non existent, and Forsberg’s focused changed to staying in the rubber, and saving his tires.
Doing just that, Forsberg was able to pull off another great night with the F&F Racing team as he crossed the stripe in the fourth spot.
“These slick tracks are not really my cup of tea, but the guys sure have given me a great car that makes it easy on me the last few times it has gone really slick,” he said. “We are happy with the fourth, and we will move on to next week.”
