PETERSEN MEDIA- With mechanical issues sidelining Andy Forsberg from competing in his heat race on Saturday night, the Auburn, CA driver would come back through the ‘B’ Main and still record a sixth-place finish in the 25-lap feature event.
“It was a bit of a frustrating night for the F&F Racing team,” Andy Forsberg said. “We timed in well, but we had some fuel system issues that kept us out of our heat race and forced us into the “B”.”
With 31 cars on hand to tune up for this weekend’s 30th Annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial event, Forsberg would get the night started by timing the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed entry in fifth fastest in time trials.
Rolling out for heat race action, issues within the fuel system aboard the F&F Racing machine would force Forsberg to the work area. As they thrashed to make repairs, it looked as if Forsberg would make the call, but upon returning to the track he would pull into the infield.
Forced into the ‘B’, Forsberg would appear to be hitting on all cylinders as he turned in a very strong performance. Picking up the win, Forsberg would move into the feature event and get his qualifying time back.
Lining up just behind the re-draw cars, the Auburn, CA driver would take the green flag from the ninth starting position. On a very slick surface that with sizeable curb built up on both ends of the speedway, Forsberg would pick up a couple positions though he still could quite make a run that he had hoped to make.
When the race came to a close, Forsberg would take the checkered flag with a sixth place finish.
“We are still really searching to find grip on the slick,” Andy Forsberg said. “Our night started off well, and then it was a bit of a struggle. The Bradway is coming this week, and it is a race that means a lot to this team, so we will go to work this week and hopefully be ready to compete for a win on Saturday.”
