PETERSEN MEDIA- With the Civil War season quickly coming to a close, Andy Forsberg took care of business on Saturday night at a rough and tumble Marysville Raceway, as his second place finish extended his slim point lead as he chases his ninth Civil War series championship.
“It was an old school, hooked up track and we were able to make some cool moves to work our way into second,” Forsberg said. “We were able to keep pace with Becker at times, but he got away the last 10-laps or so.”
Timing the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/PT Shocks No. 7c in second fastest in time trials, Forsberg would pick up a second place finish in his heat race and earn a berth into the Dash.
Pulling the six pill, the Auburn, CA driver would pick up a position as a fifth place finish aboard the Pacific Highway Rentals/Swartz Diesel/Velocity Race Gear entry put him in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.
With the track getting rough and staying fast as the night moved along, Forsberg would get his spurs on in the feature event as he used a restart on the fifth lap to work his way from fifth and up into the second spot.
After another caution on the 10th lap, Forsberg would wage war on Sean Becker for the race lead during an extended green flag run, but on this night Sean Becker was just a little better than Forsberg.
A caution on the 29th lap set up a green-white-checkered finish, and with one final shot to do something with Becker, Forsberg would give it his all but would simply come away with a second place finish as he also extended his point lead with just two events to go.
“It was a fun track to me, and I have to thank my guys for giving me a good car,” Forsberg said. “We are back to it this Saturday with the Civil War again, and we’d love to get a win at Petaluma.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
