Forsberg’s Bid For Three-In-A-Row Comes Up Just Short

PETERSEN MEDIA- Checking into the Petaluma Speedway looking for this third consecutive win, Andy Forsberg would lose his lead with two laps to go during the feature event on Saturday night as he would finish in the second spot.

“We had an awesome racecar, but we just got beat in traffic,” Andy Forsberg said. “It was getting to be close quarter racing the last couple of laps and Bernal guessed right and got us.”

Timing the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/PT Shocks No. 7c machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials, the Auburn, CA driver would turn in a strong showing during his heat race that saw him pick up the win.

Pulling the two pill in the redraw, ‘Mr. Excitement’ would grid the field form the front row for the 25-lap PitStopUSA Shootout feature event. On a tricky Petaluma Speedway surface, Forsberg would have his elbows up as he rocketed out to the early lead.

Setting a very strong pace out front, Forsberg looked to be a lock for his third consecutive victory at the speedway nestled on the Sonoma Marin County Fairgrounds.

As the laps clicked off, and Forsberg inched closer to his 10th win of the year with his C&M Motorsports team traffic would slow his pace and allow Ryan Bernal to close up on him making things interesting up front.

With two laps to go in the feature event, traffic would bottle Forsberg up and it would allow Bernal to take over the race lead. Able to clear traffic, Forsberg would chase after Bernal but would be unable to get to him as he would finish in the second spot.

“It got exciting at the end, and we congratulate Ryan Bernal and his team,” Forsberg added. “I hit traffic at the wrong time and he did what he was supposed to do. Thanks to my guys for giving me another great racecar.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: The C&M Motorsports team will now head to the Placerville Speedway to take part in the 11th Annual Mark Forni Classic on Saturday night.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-23, Wins-9, Top 5’s-19, Top 10’s-21.
