PETERSEN MEDIA- Finding the remedy for what ailed them one week ago in Hanford, CA, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing returned to action on Saturday night in Placerville, CA where a third place finish tightened things up in the season long points chase.
“I think Saturday night was another good night for our team,” Andy Forsberg said. “We have been fast lately, and probably could have had a better finish if I didn’t make a couple of mistakes but we will take our podium and move on to a busy weekend ahead.”
Checking in at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Forsberg would get off to a great start as he would set the standard in qualifying time trials and earn quick time honors aboard the Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed entry.
Lining up fourth in his heat race, Forsberg would do what was necessary and that was finish fourth and earn a spot in the nightly redraw. Moving into the redraw, pill puller extraordinaire, Jimmy Wall, would pull the six for Forsberg, which placed him in the third row to start the feature event.
On a very racy surface that offered drivers multiple grooves to race in, Forsberg would jump into third as he chased after Ryan Bernal and Justin Sanders who ran one-two early in the race.
As the race moved along, Forsberg would continue to run in third until briefly sneaking by Bernal on the eighth lap to overtake the second position. Battling it out for the runner up spot, the duo would swap positions until Forsberg settled back into third with 12 to go.
Slipping back as far as fifth on the 16th circuit, Forbserg would settle down and get back to hitting his marks as he would take fourth the next lap before pulling into third on the 21st lap where he would go on to finish.
“I have to tip my cap to the RMI crew,” Forsberg said. “In all my years of coming here, the race after the fair is usually tough as the fir track hosts a lot of events. Scott and his team did a great job of getting us a really good surface. My guys again gave me a really good car, but the knucklehead in the seat made a couple of mistakes. Still a nice finish heading into a bunch of SCCT races this week.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes, Geico Local Office, PitStopUSA, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, FVP, and CRV Carbon Solutions for their support in 2018.
ON TAP: Forsberg and F&F Racing return to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night before heading to Petaluma Speedway on Sunday for a pair of SCCT events.
2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-13, Wins-3, Top 5’s-5, Top 10’s-10.
