Fourth Place Run Highlights Tanner Carrick’s Weekend with USAC

PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to the Midwest to resume the USAC National Midget campaign, Tanner Carrick and the Petry Motorsports team would have a strong weekend that saw them record a fourth place finish on Saturday night after issues knocked them out of the lead on Friday and relegated them to a ninth place finish.
“We had really good speed both nights,” Tanner Carrick said. “We led a lot of laps on Friday night but we had some bad luck and had a steering issue that knocked us out of contention.”
Returning to the scene of his win with the series in 2019, Carrick got his night weekend off to a nice start on Friday as he timed the FK Rod Ends/Arai/K1 Race Gear backed No. 35 entry in sixth fastest in time trials.
Picking up a second-place finish in his heat race, Carrick moved directly into the feature event where he would roll off the starting grid from the inside of the second row.
Working the low side of the speedway to perfection on the race’s opening lap, Carrick would work into the lead on lap two and begin to pull away from the field.
Continuing to lead the way, Carrick would hold off Chris Windom for a handful of laps as he continued to lead the first half of the race. Developing a steering issue, Carrick would do what he could to wrestle his machine around the track as he would relinquish the lead on the 17th lap and ultimately hang on to finish 9th when the checkered was displayed.
Saturday night Carrick continued to show a ton of speed at the facility as he got off to another great start and timed in fifth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Getting the wrong end of a heat race tangle, Carrick would go to the ‘B’ on this night where his fifth-place finish transferred him into the final feature event of the weekend and put him 11th on the starting grid.
From the sixth row, Carrick again continued to showcase a strong Petry Motorsports entry as he wasted no time working through the Top-10.
Getting into the Top-5 late in the race, Carrick would cap a furious charge on this night as he closed the weekend out with a fourth place finish.
“It was a bummer to have issues on Friday night while leading, but this team really worked hard and we had an awesome car both nights,” Tanner Carrick added.
Tanner Carrick at Petry Motorsports would like to thank Arai, K1 Race Gear, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Keizer Wheels, ZMax, DR Horton, Toyota TRD, CVC, Cemex, BK Titanium, Interstate Oil Company, Emerald, and Harris & Sloan for their support.
