PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking part in the Tachi Palace Nationals at Lemoore Raceway over the weekend, Garth Kasiner would continue his strong season as he claimed the 2017 Restricted 600 Championship when points were tabulated following the two nights of racing.

Friday night, Kasiner kicked the Nationals off by timing the West Hills Oil/CS9/SRP backed No. 21g machine in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials. In heat race action, the Five Points, CA driver would take care of business as he fended of Brian Gilbert to pick up the win.

Moving into a 10-lap Dash to set the first four rows of the starting lineup, Kasiner would finish seventh, placing him in the fourth row of the 20-lap feature event.

The opening laps of the feature event would see Kasiner run in the seventh spot aboard the Roger Vogt’s Performance Auto & Air/Irritec P1 Drop Tape/Keizer Wheels machine as he worked the bottom of the speedway like the rest of the field.

Following an early yellow, Kasiner would jump up top to get the fifth spot and work back down to the bottom as he kept the high side in his back pocket. Holding down fifth as the leaders got strung out, Kasiner would close in on third and fourth as they got battling, and would get under Katey Syra to overtake the fourth spot, before working into third a lap later.

Getting by the 17 car of Joshua Rogers late in the race to take over second, Kasiner just did not have enough time to track down Jake Smith, as he would close opening night out with a second place run.

Back in action on Saturday night, Kasiner would continue to be extremely fast as he would lay down the fastest lap in time trials before finishing fourth in his heat race.

Finishing fifth in the 10-lap Dash, Kasiner would grid the field from the third row for the 30-lap finale. As the race came to life, Kasiner would run in the fifth spot as he battled with Jake Smith and Gauge Garcia in the early laps.

Searching both high and low around the Lemoore Raceway, passing just proved to be tough on this night as Kasiner continued to run in fifth. Though unable to move forward, Kasiner would run wheel-to-wheel for several laps in one of the best battles on speedway Saturday night.

When the checkered flag waived on the feature event, Kasiner would finish the race fifth, but would be crowned the 2017 Tachi Palace Nationals Restricted 600 Champion.

Garth Kasiner would like to thank West Hills Oil, CS9, Security Race Products, Roger Vogt’s Performance Auto & Air, Irritec P1 Drop Tape, Keizer Wheels, Factory Kahne, Kasiner Farms Inc., B&B Ag Transport LLC, Superior, Soil Supplements, Simplot, and Fresno Equipment Company for their support.
