PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Garth Kasiner out dueled Nicholas Panella to score his first Restricted class win at Delta Speedway as he used some late race heroics to do so.
With a total of 19 cars checking into the track Saturday night, Kasiner opened his night up by timing his West Hills Oil/CS9/Security Race Products No. 21g machine in fifth fastest during qualifying time trials.
Moving into heat race action, the Five Points, CA driver flexed his muscle as he showed everyone he would be tough in the feature event. Powering his way to the lead from his front row starting position, Kasiner would wire the field as he picked up the win aboard his Roger Vogt’s Performance Auto & Air/Irritec P1 Drip Tape/Keizer Wheels backed entry.
Lining up fifth in the 25-lap feature event, Kasiner would just nearly avoid an incident on the opening lap of the race, and would end up moving to the fourth spot when the field was re aligned.
Having a very potent car under him, Kasiner would use the bottom of the speedway to quickly work into the second spot as he then set his sights on Panella who ran ahead of him.
With Panella setting a strong pace out front, Kasiner took advantage of running in the second spot as he searched both the low groove and the low side of the speedway in his pursuit of the race lead.
Unable to track down the leader for much of the race, Kasiner stayed poised. Using a restart on the 19th lap, Kasiner would power around the leader on lap 20 and take command of the field. Out front for the final five markers, Kasiner would pull into victory lane at the Delta Speedway aboard a Restricted 600 for the first time in his young but storied career.
