(PETERSEN MEDIA- Aptos, CA)- The Wingless Series presented by Joe Hunt Magnetos return to action on Saturday night at the Stockton Speedway as they race in conjunction with the King of the West Series.
After a wild night at the Petaluma Speedway two weeks ago, Gary Nelson, Jr now find himself atop the point standings by 18 digits over Shane Myhre and 19 over Nick Larson who sits in the third spot.
During the series’ most recent visit to the Stockton Dirt Track, Nelson turned in a very strong performance that saw him surge into the third position by way of a last corner pass on Terry Schank. With victory lane eluding him thus far into the season, Nelson will look to take the top spot on the podium and extend his point lead as the series kicks off it’s second half.
Shane Myhre comes into Saturday night’s race off of a very strong showing at the Petaluma Speedway. Running second much of the race, Myhre looked to be on his way to his first victory of the season as he took the lead with just six laps to go in the feature event. A couple of untimely caution flags did not work in Myhre’s favor, though his third place effort shot him up to second in series standings.
Sitting just one point out of the second spot is Nick Larson. Larson has had a consistent season to date, but like the rest of the top-three, he too is in search of his first win of the season with the series. Coming into Saturday night’s event off of a 10th place finish in Petaluma, Larson will look to build off of a charge from 16th to ninth during the series last visit to the speedway back in June.
Other driver that are expected to be on hand Saturday night include Joe Stornetta, Angelique Bell, Colton Slack, Zach Kavert, Klint Simpson, Terry Schank, John and Bradley Clark, Cody Fendley, Shawn Jones, Austin Liggett, and many more.
