Golobic Fifth During Return to Thunderbowl Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday night with Tarlton Motorsports, Shane Golobic put together another good night with the King of the West Series that saw him pick up his seventh Top-Five finish in as many starts as he finds himself second in series standings.
“Saturday was another good night for the Tarlton Motorsports team,” Golobic said. “I feel like we had better than a fifth place car but the driver made a mistake on the lone restart of the race and it cost us a spot or two.”
Timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Tarlton and Son, Inc. backed No. 21x in sixth quickest in qualifying time trials, the Fremont, CA driver would race his way to the win in his heat race and earned a spot in the Dash.
Finishing third in the Dash, Golobic would grid the field from the second row for the 30-lap Chris and Brian Faria Memorial feature event. On a surface that saw many drivers attack the curb on both ends of the speedway, Golobic would do just that as he ran in third and chased after the leaders.
With a low car count on hand Saturday night, lapped traffic never became an issue and with the way the track was up on the wall it would prove to be tough to make moves.
The race’s lone caution came lame in the race and Golobic would try to make something happened. Trying to use the bottom in turns one and two when the green lights flashed back on, another driver had the same idea and it caused Golobic to check up a little and lose his momentum.
Giving up a couple of positions, Golobic would race to the checkered flag with his seventh Top-Five finish in seven starts with Tarlton Motorsports as he finished in the fifth position.
“You can’t be disappointed with Top-Five’s but I need to turn these into podiums as much as possible,” Golboic added. “I have to thank the Tarlton team for their hard work all night. We have Petaluma up next on Saturday and I am really looking forward to seeing what we can do. I have always run pretty well there and I am excited to see how this 21x rolls around on that adobe clay.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Yokut Gas, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 7, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 7, Top 10’s: 7.
