Good Night Goes South for Kalib Henry and McColloch Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA: Traveling to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA on Saturday night, Kalib Henry and company had a great night going, however contact from another car during the feature event would result in Henry retiring from the feature event early.

“We had a lot of speed all night long, but unfortunately we had a car get into us and it knocked our nose wing down in the feature,” Henry said. “I held on for as long as I could, but unfortunately I had to pull off early.”

Getting off to a very quick start at the central California facility, Henry timed the McColloch’s RV Repair/Express Sewer and Drain/Davis Truck Painting backed No. 17 machine in second fastest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Mather, CA driver would pick up a position as he finished third and punched his ticket into both the feature event as well as the Dash.

Finishing fourth in the Dash, Henry would take the green flag from the outside of the second row in the feature event on the slicked off racing surface.

Jumping into the third position as the feature came to life, Henry began working on second place when the early contact occurred. With damage to the front of his car resulting in a collapsed nose wing, Henry would instantly find himself with a different car to driver as the handling now became tough the work with.

Slipping back to fifth, Henry would do a great job of wrestling his machine around the 3/8-mile facility, though restarts were tough on him.

In the latter stages of the race, the issue became worse, and Henry would be forced to retire from the event just a few laps before the checkered flag flew.

“Other than the issue in the feature event, we made a lot of gains on this car, and really found a lot of speed,” Henry said. ‘I am looking forward to getting back to Placerville Speedway this weekend, back in the 17, and really feel like we will be battling up front.”

McColloch Motorsports would like to thank McColloch’s RV Repair, Express Sewer and Drain, Davis Truck Painting, ART Speed Equipment, RE Technologies, Hansen Machine, and Gary Morgan Graphics for their continued support.
