Good Run at Placerville Speedway Ends Early for Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Justyn Cox and C&M Motorsports were on the move in the feature event until issues on the 21st lap saw their night come to an end after making a move for second.

“Saturday night was a heart breaker for our team,” Cox said. “We timed in well, made it through our heat and that was good enough to put us in the redraw. In the feature we had a ton of speed, and as we made a move into second, the rear-end locked up and ended our night.”

Timing the Berco Redwood/Barry Lumber, Inc./Lund Construction backed No. 7c entry in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials, the Clarksburg, CA driver would pocket a third-place finish in his heat race and punch his ticket into the feature event.

Qualifying for the redraw based on his qualifying efforts, the seven-pill placed Cox in the fourth row to start the 25-lap feature event.

On the slicked off racing surface, Cox would get off to a very nice start as he made a couple of quick moves to get up into the fourth position. In the midst of a very long 19-lap green flag run, Cox would go to work on the bottom as he kept pace with the top-three as they ran through dense lapped traffic.

Cox would get the break he was looking for on the 19th lap when the race’s first caution flag was displayed. Taking the leaders out of traffic, and stacking the field back up in single file formation, Cox would nail the restart as he moved into the third position.

With a full head of steam on the cushion, Cox would then clear Willie Croft for the second spot as the field exited turn four, however as they raced into turns one and two Cox’s machine would lock up and he would be come to a stop off the backstretch with terminal issues.

“We have had some horrible luck, but the silver lining is that we are getting faster and faster each night,” Cox added. “I have to thank Cody, Mandi, and everyone who helps us out. Looking forward to another two-race weekend coming up.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Barry Lumber, Inc., Lund Construction, Anrak, Legacy Specialties, Inc. PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Cox and C&M Motorsports will be in action on Friday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour in Hanford, CA before returning to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.
