PETERSEN MEDIA- David Gravel and his Roth Motorsports team continued their tour of California over the weekend as they were in action at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA and the Antioch Speedway in Antioch, CA, and Gravel’s weekend was highlighted with a Top-10 finish during Saturday night’s Mini Gold Cup.

“Saturday night we qualified in the right spot, I just could not take advantage of my opportunity, and on Sunday night, I was not aggressive enough in hot laps and ended up putting us in a pretty big hole early,” David Gravel said.

Checking in at the Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night for the Mini Gold Cup, Gravel timed the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No. 83 machine in 13th quick. On a very racy track in heat race action, Gravel admittedly was too impatient, as he finished in the fifth spot, and transferred to the feature.

Lining up for the 40-lap main event in the sixth row, Gravel was able to navigate around the extremely slick Silver Dollar Speedway as he cracked the Top-10 early in the race, and worked his way toward the Top-Five. A few restarts, however, did not go his way as contact on one nearly spun his machine out, and another saw him nearly got pushed off the racing surface. When the dust settled on the race, Gravel would cross the stripe with a 10th place finish.

Heading to the Antioch Speedway on Sunday night for the first of two stops in 2015, Gravel struggled in time trials, as he timed his machine in 24th fastest.

On a very fast, and narrow, racing surface, Gravel was able to advance from his sixth starting spot in his heat race, to finish in the fourth spot, and earn the direct transfer into the night’s A Main Event.

Lining up scratch on the field, Gravel could only do so much on a surface that was just too narrow to make any moves on. Trying everything he could to get moving forward, it was just not happening, as he would up finishing in the 21st position.

“It was an interesting weekend with two polar opposite surfaces,” Gravel said. “Saturday night we had a track that took rubber, and on Sunday we had a really narrow surface that was almost as bad as rubber. My guys worked very hard, and I thank them for continuing to grind it out. I also have to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for continuing to support us, and let us race week after week.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, KW Suspension, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.

2015 ROTH MOTORSPORTS BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-19, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-10.
