PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the track for the first time since clinching the Placerville Speedway Championship, Greg DeCaires and his Dale Miller Motorsports team headed to the Silver Dollar Speedway for the final night of the Fall Nationals where DeCaires was able to work his way from 11th to finish fourth.
“It was only our second start at the Silver Dollar Speedway in 2015, and Dale (Miller) made some really big changes to our car that really helped us out,” DeCaires said.
Timing the Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic/Foothill 7 TV/RedHawk Casino No. 4SA machine in 11th fastest in his flight, ‘The Catfish’ would finish second in his heat race and advance to the 40-lap A Main event.
A wild windstorm blew over the Silver Dollar Speedway prior to the feature event, and it made things even more difficult as the drivers hit the slicked off racing surface. In true “Catfish” fashion, DeCaires was able to make the bottom work to his liking and he raced wheel-to-wheel with many of the regions top drivers.
Battling with Tyler Walker and Jonathan Allard in the middle portion of the race, DeCaires was able to get into the Top-Five as he raced as high as third spot at one point in the race.
In the closing laps, a surging Sean Becker would get to work on the high-side of the speedway, and his late race charge would see DeCaires fall back to the fourth spot, where he would finish when the checkered flag flew.
“Starting from the 11th spot, it was awesome to get our car up to third late in the race,” DeCaires added. “Becker got going really good at the end of the race and it moved us back to fourth, but it was really good to leave Chico with our chin up after our last visit there. I have to thank Dale Miller and these guys for working hard to get us a really strong car on Saturday night.”
Greg DeCaires and the Dale Miller Motorsports team would like to thank Dale Miller Plumbing and Septic, Foothill 7 TV, RedHawk Casino, Halk Equipment Rentals, NAAKE Suspension, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Frank’s Auto Body Shop, Hangtown Sheet Metal and Wesmar Racing Engines for their support.
