PETERSEN MEDIA: Hitting the Silver Dollar Speedway on Friday night for one final race before hitting the road for the Knoxville Nationals, Andy Gregg turned in a strong performance that saw him finish in the fourth spot aboard his Miller Fortune/Poor’s Equipment Repair/K&N backed No. 53 machine.

“We had a really fast racecar all night, and though Chico doesn’t compare to the Knoxville Raceway, it was a good way for us to run before heading back east,” Gregg said.

Timing in eight fastest in time trials, the Placerville, CA driver simply dominated his heat race, and earned a spot in the second row of the main event aboard his FK Rod Ends/King Racing Products/BR Motorsports backed machine, but found himself on the front row after a false start.

When the green flag waived on the feature event, Gregg quickly jumped out to an early lead, as he began distancing himself from the rest of the field, as Andy Forsberg and Sean Becker chased after him.

Turning in some impressive laps, Gregg ustilzied the bottom of the speedway in turns one and two, and with Forsberg using the high side of the speedway, he was able to get the advantage exiting the second turn on the 17th lap.

As Forsberg got the lead, Gregg looked to bet back around him, and as he tried to make his move, he opened the door for Sean Becker, and slipped back to the third spot.

Trying to chase after the lead duo, and take back the top spot, Gregg admittedly started to over drive his entry, and allowed Jonathan Allard to take a spot for him in the waning laps.

Gregg’s end result was a fourth place finish.

“It was good that we had speed, but Forsberg just had a good run on us, and I just started pressing after we got passed,” Gregg said. “We had a really fast car, and I just made some mistakes. I can’t thank everyone enough, and I am really looking forward to getting back to the Knoxville Raceway.”

Andy would like to thank Miller Fortune, Poor’s Equipment Repair, K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, FK Shocks, Wilwood, Capitol Ace Hardware, 95.7 The Wolf, CTL Forrest Management, Nail Roofing, Meyers and Sons Drywall, Ervin Sales Group, Hansen Machine, K&T Fab, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Amerikote, and Hinchman for their support in 2014.
