PETERSEN MEDIA: With a forgettable 4th of July behind him, Andy Gregg and is Russell Motorsports team picked up their second win of the season on Saturday night as Gregg led flag to flag.

“I have to thank my entire crew on this night,” Andy Gregg said. “They worked hard all night long, and at the end of the day I am glad I was able to reward them with a win.”

With things under the hood giving Gregg and his team fits during hot laps, they would go to work on the Capitol Ace Hardware/Thompson’s Toyota/New Gen Landscape No. 14r to try and make it better for time trials.

Still not quite right, Gregg was able to time in seventh fastest, and the team continue to change stuff within the fuel system as they looked to get the engine to their liking. Starting on the front row of his heat race, Gregg would limp his way to a third place finish and earn a spot in the redraw.

Sending a crew member back to his nearby shop to pick up a spare engine, the Russell Motorsports team would thrash to get a new power-plant in the Nail It Roofing/Carroll Russell Bookkeeping/Arnold’s For Awards entry just as the feature event was being called to staging.

Lining up on the front row of the feature alongside Greg DeCaires, Gregg new with the way the track was that whoever got the jump would most likely pick up the win on this night.

As the green light’s flashed, Gregg was hard on the throttle as he raced to the early advantage as he quickly put his machine on the low side of the speedway, where most of the field ran.

With the master of the bottom of speedway on his bumper, Gregg was careful to hit his marks and not give second running DeCaires any opportunity to pounce. With a couple of caution flags slowing the pace of the race, Gregg kept his cool, and hit his marks as he went on to pick up his second feature event win of the season.

“After taking a huge hit in the points a week ago, we decided to focus on wins and this is a great start,” Gregg added. “Like I said, my crew worked so hard all night long and we would not have come close to picking up a win if it was not for them, so I hope they know how much I appreciate what they do for me.”

Andy and the Russell Motorsports team would like to thank Capitol Ace Hardware, Thompson’s Toyota, New Gen Landscape Management, Nail It Roofing, Carroll Russell Bookkeeping, Arnold’s For Awards, Goodwin Trucking, Farrell Design-Build Inc., HJS Consulting, Poor’s Equipment Repair, CTL Forrest Management, K&T Fab, K&N Products, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, GUTS, Amsoil, Wilwood, Amerikote, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Factory Kahne Shocks, Hinchman Indy, and Hansen Machine for their support in 2015.
