PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to show a ton of speed at Placerville Speedway in what is the final year of owning his own team, Andy Gregg had another good run at his home track on Saturday night as he came away with an eighth-place finish.
“It was an okay night at Placerville Speedway on Saturday,” Andy Gregg said. “It was good to get the team another Top-10 finish.”
On a windy spring afternoon that led to a slicked off racing surface early in the program at Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg would open his night up by timing the GUTS/LAL Motorsports/Crane Inspection Agency backed entry in sixth fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Gregg was able to make some moves and race his way to the win. By way of his heat race triumph, Gregg would qualify for the redraw where the seven-pill lined him up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
Following some quick track prep, Gregg would slip back in the early goings of the feature event as he found himself back in 10th at one time. Able to pick a couple positions back up, the Diamond Springs, CA driver was back in eighth when the first caution of the night flew on the ninth lap.
Using the double file restart, Gregg would pick up another spot as he jumped into seventh. Continuing to fight his way forward, Gregg would crack to Top-Five late in the race.
In the final three stanzas, Gregg would admittedly make a couple of costly mistakes that would result in him giving up a few positions as he closed the night out with an eighth-place result.
“We were able to get up into the Top-5 late, but a couple of little mistakes proved to be costly,” Gregg said. “All in all, not a bad night for an old guy like myself.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, LAL Motorsports, Crane Inspection Agency, Meyers and Son Drywall, Nail it Roofing, CTL Forest Management, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Aaron Dosh Attorney at Law, Ice House Resort, Classic Fence Co., Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, Sierra Ice, Ford’s Only, MF Inc., and Gilly’s Radiator for their support.
ON TAP: Gregg will be idle the next two weekends before returning to action at Ocean Speedway on May 7th, and Placerville Speedway on May 8th.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-2
