PETERSEN MEDIA: Fighting some throttle issues during Saturday night’s Mark Forni Classic at Placerville Speedway, Andy Gregg would do all he could to wrestle his machine home with an 11thplace finish.
“It was a so-so night,” Andy Gregg said. “The Forni means so much to so many people and I would have loved to get up front battling for the win. We broke a throttle spring in the feature, and it made for quite the eventful race.”
Timing the GUTS/Capitol Ace Hardware/Crane Inspection Agency backed No. 16x entry in seventh fastest in qualifying time trials, Andy Gregg would pick up a fourth place finish in heat race action.
Transferring directly into the 25-lap feature event, Gregg would take the green flag from the eighth starting position after the redraw.
On a slick Placerville Speedway racing surface, Gregg would hold down the eighth position as a broken throttle spring would make things tough on him to get into a rhythm.
On the sixth lap, Gregg would get himself into trouble as he would get up over the edge of the Speedway and bring his machine to a rest on the outside of turn two.
Going to the work area to try and make a repair, the crew would be unable to in the two minutes of work time, and Gregg would return to the speedway trying to do what he could.
From the back of the pack, Gregg would do all he could to work his way back forward, and did an impressive job of getting back up to 11thwhen the race came to an end.
“We run two springs, and one broke, and really made it challenging with how slick the surface was,” Gregg said. “I got up over the edge trying to adapt early in the race, and did what I could from the back when we restarted. Thanks to my guys and my sponsors for all they continue to do for me.”
Andy would like to thank GUTS, Capitol ACE Hardware, Crane Inspection Agency, Sierra Ice, CTL Forest Management, Nail It Roofing, ARP Enterprises, Ervin Sales, Triple X, Wilwood, FK Shocks, FK Rod Ends, K&N, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Amerikote, Pony Express Service, Eagle Grit, and MF Inc. for their support in 2019.
ON TAP: Andy Gregg is hoping to follow the SCCT to Merced Speedway on Saturday night.
