PETERSEN MEDIA: Making his way to the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night for the track’s regular season opener, Andy Gregg had a strong showing aboard his GUTS Racing entry as he would finish in the third spot.

“It was a really good night for our first time out this season,” Andy Gregg said. “We set quick time, ran well in the heat, and had a nice run from eighth to third in the feature event.”

Climbing aboard his Mike’s Hard Lemonade/Angius and Terry LLP/ARP Enterprises No. 16 machine on Saturday night, the Placerville, CA driver would set the standard in time trials on the ¼ mile bullring.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Gregg was able to pick up a spot as a third place finish would put him in the nightly redraw where the eight pill lined him up in the fourth row of the 25-lap feature event.

On the extremely racy track, Gregg was able to carve his way forward as he chased after Greg DeCaires, Justyn Cox, and Justin Sanders who all raced in front of him. Using the beefed up Placerville cushion to his advantage, Gregg was able to claw his way into the third spot as he gave Sanders and DeCaires chase in the waning laps.

Giving Sanders all he could handle for the second position, Gregg would be unable to make anything stick as he closed his night with his second consecutive third place of the season.

“I really have to thank Zac, Brian, and everyone else that helps me out on this deal,” Gregg added. “They did a great job of getting everything ready to go, and I think we had a pretty good car all night long.”

Andy would like to thank GUTS, Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Angius and Terry LLP, ARP Enterprises, Capitol Ace Hardware, New Gen Landscape, K&N, FK Rod Ends, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, FK Shocks, Wilwood, Arnold’s For Awards, and Nail It Roofing  for their support in 2016.

ON TAP: Gregg will be back at the Placerville Speedway this coming Saturday night.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-3, Wins- 0, Top 5’s-2, Top 10’s-2
