PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his first ever start at the Stockton Dirt Track on Sunday night during the Civil War Series season finale, Matt Peterson had a very fast racecar, but mechanical gremlins kept him from having a strong finish.
“We were fast every time we hit the track, which really made how the feature went very tough to swallow,” Peterson said.
Timing the V&H Fresh/Miller Lite/Inventory Sales Company backed No. p37 in 12th fastest, before he took advantage of his front row starting spot, and earned a berth in the dash.
A fifth place finish in the dash put the Wilton, CA driver in the third row for the final 30-lap feature event of the year.
Moving into the fourth spot when the race got underway, Peterson ran there when the first caution flew, but opted to head to the work area, as he had a broken shock on his machine.
Restarting from the tail end of the field, Peterson was patient as he worked around the rough and heavy Stockton Dirt Track, slowly picking up positions that he lost when he was forced to the pit area.
Getting back up as high as 10th, Peterson’s engine started getting hot, and the 21-year-old opted to call it a night and save his equipment.
“We ended up breaking a radiator it looks like, pretty disappointing,” he added. “I really have to thank my guys for all of their hardwork tonight, and all year. I have to thank my parents and all of our sponsors for their continued support, and we cannot wait to get back at it in 2015!.”
Matt and his team would like to thank V&H Fresh, Miller Lite, Inventory Sales Company, Bear Trucking, Future Energy Savers, Transportation Services, The Oil Medics, Shell Shock, and MTFX Graphics for their support in 2014.
ON TAP: Peterson’s 2014 season has concluded.
