Gualda Fights Through Adversity to Finish 11th at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting caught up in an early tangle that resulted in the loss of his nose wing, Tony Gualda did not get deterred as he managed to rally back to finish 11th with C&M Motorsports on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
“It was an alright night for us,” Gualda said. “We didn’t time in that well and then I made a mistake on the start of the heat race that kept us out of the redraw and we just were too far back in the main.”
With 27 cars checked into the pit area at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, the Hollister, CA driver would time the PitStopUSA/Autism Awareness/Pacific Highway Rentals backed No. 7c entry in 13th fastest.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Gualda would need to grab the win to earn a spot in the redraw. Admittedly making when the green flag was shown, Gualda would slip back and finish in the third spot.
Making the direct transfer to the 25-lap feature event, Gualda would miss out on the redraw, which resulted in him lining the Moorefield Construction/PT Shocks/51 Fifty Energy Drink machine up in the seventh row.
Getting a nice start in the feature, Gualda would crack the Top-10 until another car came across the front of his car and caused him to spin in turns one and two. While spun, contact from another car would take the nose wing off resulting in Gualda running the rest of the race without it.
From the back of the pack, Gualda remained calm and collected as he turned in nice laps amidst a battered machine. Able to go forward on a track that was tough to really make up ground on, Gualda would take the checkered flag with an 11th place finish.
“I really have to thank Cody and Darin for working with me each and every week,” Gualda added. “I am learning a ton every night, and we are getting better each night out.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank PitStopUSA, Autism Awareness, Pacific Highway Rentals, Moorefield Construction, Inc., PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, 51 Fifty Energy Drink, Alturas Tires, and Velocity Race Gear and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
