Gualda Ninth at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Tony Gualda continues to establish himself as a threat on any given night. The Hollister, CA driver flirted with his first win of the season at Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, but would come up short as he actually slipped back to finish ninth.
“We were really fast all night long,” Tony Gualda said. “I just made a mistake once Sean Becker got by us late, and I had to make a decision to spin myself or risk wrecking us both and I chose to spin myself. I have a ton of respect for Sean as well as Cody and Mandi, and had no interest in risking the chance on destroying equipment.”
Earning his third quick time award of the season at Placerville Speedway, Gualda would race his way to a heat race win, and pave his way into the nightly redraw.
Pulling the vaunted eight pill, the Hollister, CA pilot would line the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7c machine up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event.
Quickly working his way up into the third position, Gualda would use a lap seven restart to get into the second position, and would stalk Kalib Henry for the next five laps before powering around him and into the lead on the 12th lap.
Looking very strong out front, Gualda would soon have company in the name of Sean Becker. Looking to keep Becker at bay, Gualda would see Becker use a lap 17 restart to his advantage and get under him for the lead on the 19th lap exiting turn four.
As Gualda went to enter turn one on the bottom of the speedway, Becker too committed to the bottom, and what looked like may be disaster saw Gualda pitch his machine sideways hard causing him to spin to avoid contact and lose a handful of spots.
Gualda would ultimately slip back and cap his night off with a ninth place finish.
“I feel for my team, because we had a car that was good enough to win,” Gualda said. “I will learn from my mistake and move on to Petaluma Speedway this Saturday. Thanks to Cody, Mandi, and MF for continuing to do so much for me.”
The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.
ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports will make the trip to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.
