PETERSEN MEDIA- Following the Sprint Car Challenge Tour to Hanford, CA on Saturday night, a tough showing has Tony Gualda and C&M Motorsports poised for their return to Placerville Speedway this week.

“It was just one of those nights,” Tony Gualda said. “We struggled early and that put us in a hole all night and I was just unable to dig us out. We can’t dwell on it, and we will look forward to Placerville Speedway on Saturday night after running really well there a couple of weeks ago.”

Timing the Moorefield Construction, Inc./Hollister Auto Parts/PitStopUSA backed No. 7C machine in seventh quickest in his qualifying time trials group, Gualda would find himself seventh on the starting grid for heat race action.

Battling a brake issue in the heat, Gualda would admittedly try and hang on as he worked around the slicked off Keller Auto Speedway. Finishing sixth, Gualda would be forced into the ‘B’ Main where he would take the green flag from the third starting position.

On the extremely wide racing surface that was re shaped during the off season, Gualda would settle into the low groove as he held on to a transfer position. Hitting his marks lap after lap, Gualda would see a competitor build momentum up on the cushion and sneak by for the final transfer berth on the last lap and his night would come to an early end.

“I guess it was kind of like being out front,” Gualda said. “Everyone was on the bottom and I really didn’t expect the top to have anything. Unfortunately we got passed for the transfer and it ended our night. I hate it for my team, but we will bounce back and have a great night on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who helps out and supports the 7c.”

The C&M Motorsports team would like to thank Moorefield Construction, Inc., Hollister Auto Parts, PitStopUSA, PT Shocks, Swartz Diesel, Alturas Tires, and all of their product sponsors for their continued support.

ON TAP: Gualda and C&M Motorsports are geared up for a return to Placerville Speedway for weekly point competition on Saturday night.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-11, Wins-0, Top 5’s-3, Top 10’s-6.
